A Houston man is being held in an Ohio jail on charges of murdering a Baytown grandma whom he allegedly lured to her death.
Roxann Inniss, 55, was discovered shot to death in front of her Baytown house on Ohio Street on March 8.
Damere Ferguson, 18, was detained on March 23 and is currently incarcerated in Hamilton County.
Baytown police have released video of a man masquerading as a woman standing on the front doorstep of Inniss’ home moments before she was found dead 2 days after the homicide.
The speech from the victim’s Ring camera indicated how her accused killer(s) lured her outside, according to Harris County court records.
According to court documents, the man told Inniss that he had sideswiped her vehicle and required her to inspect it for damages. After Inniss stepped outside, there was a single gunshot.
Inniss, a mother of four and grandmother of seven, was gunned down in front of her house.
Records reveal that after the photographs from the porch were made public, tipsters named Ferguson as the culprit and led the police to more evidence. Another informant informed authorities that Ferguson had escaped to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was apprehended.
Ferguson informed investigators that while he purchased the disguise and enticed Inniss, the shooting was carried out by another individual he referred to as “mister.” Ferguson claimed he was offered $15,000 to remain silent.
Ferguson is accused of murder and evidence manipulation. He’s accused of throwing away floor mats with DNA evidence on them. He is being held in Harris County pending extradition.
Police in Baytown have not stated whether they are looking for a second suspect.
