A man was arrested after telling a coworker at an Amazon delivery facility that he intended to commit a mass shooting.

According to Bexar County Jail records, Rodolfo Valdivia Aceves, 19, is charged with terroristic threat.

Aceves did work as a sub – contractor at the Amazon Delivery Station at 8210 Sous Vide Way on the city’s Southeast Side, near Brooks City Base.

On Monday, officers were called to the building after a coworker revealed Aceves making some disturbing statements.

She told authorities that an alarm went off at the Amazon facility on Friday, and that all personnel were ordered to evacuate.

Aceves stated that he should sound the fire alarm to get employees to run out so that a mass shooting could take place. Aceves then stated that he would be the one committing the mass shooting.

The witness didn’t tell anybody on Friday because she was scared of retaliation, but on Monday she chose to tell her higher ups because she believed Aceves was capable of carrying out his threat based on previous remarks he’d made.

Police were informed by the woman that Aceves regarded the Uvalde school shooter as “an idol” and claimed that he knew where her children went to school and stated, “he would now know what school to go to and shoot up.”

Aceves’ father was questioned and revealed to investigators that Aceves had previously suffered from mental illness and had been put in a mental health facility twice when he was 16 years old.

Aceves was prescribed meds, according to his father, but he stopped taking it after a few years.

Aceves’ father told investigators that his son had bought an assault rifle and that members of the family are scared because of his previous behavior.

In Texas, federal background checks do not reveal commitments to a juvenile mental institution.

Aceves was arrested on Monday afternoon.

The threat of terrorism is a third-degree felony. Aceves is being held on a $50,000 bond.
