On Sept. 8, more than 150 shots were fired into the sleeping toddler’s Charlotte house, killing him. Police have charged a man with accessory after the fact.
Qua’tonio Stephens, 21, was arrested by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police. In connection with the shooting of Asiah Figueroa, he was charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
On September 8, police conducted a traffic stop on a car being driven by Stephens. According to them, the vehicle failed to stop, and a chase started. On I-85 at Glenwood Drive, he was detained without incident.
In connection with an incident that occurred Sept. 7 off Joe Morrison Lane, he faces a slew of felony charges, including fleeing to evade, discharge weapon occupied property (three counts), and assault with a deadly weapon intent to kill (seven counts).
Susie Whitley, the child’s great-grandmother, claimed Asiah Figueroa, 3, was killed in a shooting off Richard Rozzelle Drive on Tuesday night.
Asiah’s 4-year-old sister was hit by a bullet but is likely to live.
