According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, a large bale of cocaine was discovered floating in the sea near Coconut Mallory Marina in Key West on Saturday.
The bale was found off the coast and reported to Key West Police officers.
Deputies from the MCSO did respond shortly before 3:40 p.m. and discovered 25 rectangular bricks within the bale. They were all encased in green plastic and also had black “XXX” decals on them.
Authorities estimate their overall weight to be around 55 pounds.
The bricks of suspected cocaine will be turned over to federal authorities.
