The West Tennessee Drug Task Force arrested a woman after officers said they discovered cocaine concealed in a car rental during a traffic stop.
Jamila Akita-Odebor, 47, of Chicago, was stopped on the Fayette-Shelby County line around noon on Feb. 10, according to Johnie Carter, director of the West Tennessee Drug Task Force.
Officers with the Task Force said they had reason to believe Akita-Obedor was involved in criminal activity. Officers then deployed a K-9, which led to the discovery of cocaine hidden in the trunk.
Authorities discovered 4.4 pounds of cocaine with a street value of nearly $70,000, according to authorities.
Carter also claimed that the vehicle also contained small amounts of crystal meth, ecstasy, and marijuana. According to Carter, the drugs in question were being transported from Ohio to Texas.
Akita-Odebor was arrested and booked into the Fayette County Jail.
