52-Year-Old Man Gets Stabbed In The Throat After Telling Panhandler He Had No Spare Change

Man Stabbed In The Neck While Walking With His Son In Chicago

According to WGN, after being stabbed in the neck in the city’s Gold Coast neighborhood on Sunday evening, a 52-year-old man is in critical condition.

Authorities say the stabbing happened near the 700 block of N. Michigan Ave. around 5 p.m. The perpetrator approached the man as he walked down the street with his 15-year-old son and asked for spare change. The victim turned down the request. According to police, the offender verbally threatened the victim before pulling out a sharp object and stabbing him in the throat.

According to Chicago Fire, a nearby police officer used a quick-clot kit to staunch the bleeding.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for surgery.

The offender is in custody following witness accounts and description, according to Chicago Police.
