A North Carolina lottery winner was given a life sentence after being convicted of murdering a woman with whom he had an intimate relationship.

In 2017, according to Brunswick County authorities, Michael Hill from Brunswick County won $10 million with a scratch-off lotto ticket.

Hill was accused by law enforcement authorities of shooting his girlfriend Keonna Hill in the back of the head after she admitted to text messaging other men.

She was discovered dead in a hotel room in Shallotte, according to officials.

A jury sentenced Hill to life in prison without the possibility of parole after deliberating for only an hour.
