Carolyn Griffin, 60, could not recover from the terrible attack in her own apartment at Arbor Gardens Apartments.

Police have identified the culprit as Kevin Nicholas Barge, 44 years old. Barge surrendered to police on Tuesday evening and faces many accusations, including aggravated assault with the intent to murder, rape, or rob and false imprisonment.

“Tied her up, put her in the closet, and he left her for dead,” Maya Griffin said.

According to police, Barge tied up and gagged Griffin and another lady in Griffin’s bedroom before shooting and leaving them for dead.

July 5th morning, according to investigators, the other lady fled and rushed to a neighbor’s apartment to call for assistance.

Griffin was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she passed away on Sunday.

Deborah, the eldest sister of Carolyn, stated she knew Barge personally and welcomed him into her home at 3 a.m. on July 5.

“To open your door to someone that you thought you could trust to come in to your home and to torture you the way that this young man did, please God, I know you have all power we just want justice,” she said.

The shattered family now hopes that Barge will soon face justice.

“We want to see justice. My mom deserved it, she’s a loving person, helped everyone around her,” Maya Griffin remarked.
