According to a local report, a Tennessee woman allegedly stabbed her husband to death after an argument over the taste of his coffee.

Officers from the Memphis Police Department (MPD) arrested Sheila Downey, 68, after receiving information that a person had been injured at 832 Wrenwood Avenue around 8:11 a.m. on April 24.

According to an affidavit obtained by Fox13, officers arrived to find a man who had been stabbed multiple times.

“Upon arriving on the scene, officers located a male (81) suffering from multiple stab wounds,” an MPD spokesperson said in a Facebook post on Monday. The victim was taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition, but he died from his injuries later.

“Officers were advised that the victim was involved in an altercation with his wife when she reportedly stabbed him. The suspect, 68-year-old Sheila Downey, was not on the scene when officers arrived, [but] she returned and was taken into custody.”

Downey and her husband had gotten into an argument over the taste of his coffee, according to Fox13.

Downey allegedly went into the laundry room to drink bleach and was stabbed when the man attempted to prevent her from causing harm to herself, according to police.

Downey was later apprehended and charged with murder in the first degree.
