Mariah Carey Sued By Brother For Defamation

Mariah Carey Sued by Brother for Depicting Him as ‘Violent Man’ in Her Memoir

Morgan Carey sued Mariah Carey for portraying him in her best-selling book, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey,” as a “violent man”, according to The Wrap.

The case, which was filed in New York’s Supreme Court on Wednesday, focuses on several passages in Morgan Carey’s memoir that he claims “vilify” him.

Carey’s brother claims that passages like “often drug trafficking, been-in-the-system, drunk-ass brother” and “Morgan had a long history of violence, of getting mixed up with questionable characters and shady circumstances” are misleading and defamatory.

The suit also argues that talks for a film project that Morgan Carey was involved in were “abruptly broken off” as a result of Carey’s memoir, and that he was not approached by anyone editing or publishing the book prior to its publication.

Carey’s older sister, Alison Carey, filed a $1.25 million lawsuit against the singer last month, alleging that the memoir caused her emotional distress.
