Following a warning from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued late Friday night, a widespread closure has been implemented across the Mid-South.

Products are delivered to stores in 11 states, including Mississippi, Arkansas, and Tennessee, from the company’s distribution center in West Memphis.

Because of the FDA report, the products that were stored in that facility from January 1, 2021 to the present have been voluntarily recalled by the Family Dollar, resulting in the closure of 404 stores for a short period of time.

According to Family Dollar’s internal records, approximately 2,300 rodents were collected between late March and the middle of September last year.

A former Family Dollar employee sent a video of rats running around the West Memphis distribution center in January of 2021.
