According to the attorney for Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald, witness accounts and surveillance video discredit a man’s statement that the player violently attacked him at a Pittsburgh nightclub last weekend.
According to WPXI-TV, attorney Casey White, the video shows Donald not beating up anyone but rather trying to save the victim, De’Vincent Spriggs.
The channel began airing a black-and-white video of a dozen males and a brawl in which one man, supposedly Spriggs, ended up on the ground. White claims that Donald can be seen in the video trying to pull someone away from the situation.
According to Spriggs’ attorney, Todd J. Hollis, Donald and others beat up Spriggs, causing numerous injuries that required hospitalization.
Early Friday, Hollis’ office stated that he would have no comment on the video or White’s remarks. Spriggs, however, recanted his initial assault statement late Friday night, after the video was shared all over social media.
Spriggs made a mistake, Hollis informed Andy Sheehan of Pittsburgh’s KDKA-TV news, assuming it was Donald who beat him, not others. Donald is reportedly being offered an apology by Spriggs.
