AAU Ref Gets Jumped After Altercation With Coach During Game

Over the weekend, a big brawl erupted during an AAU basketball game when a referee was assaulted by multiple individuals, including a player, after appearing to hit a coach during a heated in-game disagreement.

The brawl occurred during the Hardwood Classic X RecruitLook Summer Finale in Kansas City when a coach seemed to lose his cool over a technical foul call.

The coach, dressed in blue shorts and a grey shirt, gets in the ref’s face after hearing the whistle and it’s evident he’s irritated with the call.

The official then appeared to try to create distance by extending his arm, but the guy was having none of it, trying to push his hand out of the way.

The referee then launched a right hook, which may or may not have hit, and instantly began backpedaling as a swarm of spectators came onto the court and began following him.

The ref was jumped by what looked to be other coaches, fans, and even a player, who tried to strike the official while he was down on the floor.

It’s unclear whether anyone was injured in the altercation but once the participants were separated, the official stumbled away, fell at one point, and had to be carried off the court by several others.
