A Mobile County Corrections Officer was arrested for attempting to sell “explicit adult movies” to Mobile County Metro Jail inmates.
Tuesday, Fredrick Johnson was arrested on 21 counts of trying to promote contraband in prisons. The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office reports that bag searches checks were conducted at the jail while corrections officers reported for duty.
Johnson was allegedly found with chargers, a camera, a camera watch, and usb memory drives containing movies. According to the sheriff’s office, a number of these films contained adult material.
Detectives from the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office believe Johnson brought the goods into Metro Jail to offer to the inmates.
Regarding the revelation, Sheriff Sam Cochran stated in a press release, “This behavior will not be tolerated.”
“We are constantly investigating how contraband is brought into our jail and if we find it is one of our employees then we will arrest him/her just like we would anyone else.”
In 2019, Johnson began working as a corrections officer for the sheriff’s office.
