Amanda Seales announced her departure from the daytime talk show back in June2020, citing her decision not to extend her contract six months after becoming the fifth co-host on the program.
“I left The Real because it was breaking my spirit … I was being asked to not talk about certain things that felt like a betrayal to my people.”
“And then on top of that, I didn’t want to be somewhere that I felt like people weren’t being honest with me and where people felt scared of me because of my Black woman-ess.”
Fast forward to Friday , June 3, after eight seasons and 1,360 episodes, the hosts Loni Love, Jeannie Mai, Garcelle Beauvais, and Adrienne Bailon waved farewell in an emotional last episode.
During the show, the women reflected on their greatest moments, recollections, and the impact the Emmy-winning series had on the history of daytime television.
Since its inception in 2013, the show has been acclaimed for its diverse hosts and its topical focus on millennials. In the final broadcast, Love directed viewers to a montage of highlights from their time on-air, which featured all of the former co-hosts Tamar Braxton and Tamera Mowry Housley. Amanda Seales was the only co-host absent from the tribute.
See what she had to say in the video below…
“So apparently The Real in their finale episode did promo and I am not featured in this thumbnail and I’m not featured in the finale episode either. I’ll have something to say about that later.”
