The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced Tuesday afternoon that Terrell Rhodes, 27, has been arrested for the murder of 2-year-old Amari Nicholson.

During the arrest, Rhodes reportedly grabbed a police officer’s gun, according to a press conference held by the department.

Amari Nicholson, 2, was reported missing from the Emerald Suites on Paradise Road on May 5.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported Rhodes’ arrest. According to Lt. Richard Meyers, the missing persons case has been upgraded to a murder investigation.

“During the course of the investigation, it became clear that the circumstances were suspicious,” Meyers said. “As the investigation progressed, it became very clear to us that Terrell Rhodes was our suspect.”
