Authorities say a man started firing on officers trying to serve a warrant at a home in eastern Kentucky Thursday night, killing 2 (now 3) officers and injuring five others.

Lance Storz, 49, was apprehended by police late Thursday night. According to the arrest citation, an emergency management official was also injured, and a police K9 dog was killed.

A judge in Pike County arraigned Storz on Friday morning. He pleaded not guilty to two counts of murdering a police officer and was jailed on a $10 million bond.

One of the charges was attempted murder of a police officer, but a judge said during the hearing that it was upgraded to murder. He is also charged with attempted murder and assault on a service animal.
