A North Carolina man was fatally shot by a Pasquotank County Sheriff’s deputy this morning while executing a search warrant at a person’s home, according to numerous local reports.

The sheriff’s deputy has been placed on leave pending a review by the state Bureau of Investigations.

The man that was shot is Andrew Brown, 40, a father of 10. People on the scene say Brown was unarmed and that they heard six to eight shots as he was driving away.

“During the execution of the search warrant, a citizen who was subject to the search warrant was shot and fatally wounded,” the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
