A Illinois Subway employee was suspended after defending herself during a robbery attempt.
The event occurred on Sunday morning at the 1120 East State Street eatery.
Araceli Sotelo, a Subway employee, said she was terrified for her life and decided to fight in the spur of the moment. She now claims that she was suspended because of a surveillance film that went viral on the internet.
Sotelo was working alone when a stranger approached him and demanded money. Because the man won’t leave and ended up stealing Sotelo’s pocketbook, she started fighting back. During the tussle, she stated, the man’s gun dropped to the floor.
The entire incident is captured on surveillance video from inside the Subway and has been shared online. Sotelo has been suspended from her job.
Sotelo asserts that she did not release the clip and that the owner is not returning her phone calls.
