On May 21, a Buckeye man is accused of striking and killing a bicyclist before fleeing the scene.

According to the police, Fernando Ramos was driving a pickup truck when he collided with George Cooper, 60, who was riding a bicycle. The collision occurred close to Jackrabbit Trail and Beloat Road.

About nine miles away, deputies stopped Ramos and took him into custody.

They claim that Ramos was not intoxicated, but he was driving approximately 60 mph in a 45 mph zone.

According to his criminal history, he has served time for charges including DUI.
