A widely known Metro Detroit jeweler known for providing dazzling chains, watches, and diamond rings to local musicians and celebs was gunned down in Oak Park.

Dan ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson, 47, was shot dead while driving his GMC Denali on Greenfield Road on Wednesday, according to Fox 2 in Detroit.

According to MLive, he was the owner of Hutch’s Jewelry, a long-running enterprise with a lengthy list of superstar clients and one of the region’s most prominent options for Cartier sunglasses identified as Buffs, a staple in Detroit’s pop culture.

Officers gave Hutchinson CPR at the scene of the shooting, which was only a mile north of his shop. According to the TV station, he was taken to a local hospital and subsequently died.

A suspect confronted Hutchinson as he was leaving work, according to police. According to investigators, his GMC was riddled with a dozen bullet holes.

The suspect tried to flee but was captured shortly thereafter, according to police. The suspect has not been named, nor has the reason for the shooting been revealed.
