According to police video released on Monday, April 12, Benzino, born Raymond Scott, was arrested after showing up at his ex-girlfriend Althea Heart’s home in Georgia and confronting her and the man she was with, Reginald Cuington.
Benzino, according to Heart, threatened Cuington and prevented him from entering his vehicle. When Heart jumped into the driver’s seat and attempted to flee, the rapper allegedly became enraged and punched the car several times.
“I was able to view the damage of the truck, which showed two dents in the driver side rear door,” Braselton Police Sergeant Wayne Breeden said in his report.
“Reginald then stated that Raymond continued to threaten him until police arrival. I also spoke with Althea, and another witness, Cindy, who observed the incident from her porch. Cindy stated that she also viewed the Raymond subject shouting obscenities and punching the red pickup truck.”
Benzino later explained why he went by Heart’s house in the video.
When Cuington arrived on the scene with Heart, he asserted he was there to witness his young son play tennis in Heart’s neighborhood.
The rapper also claimed that Cuington threatened him and that he only responded in this manner because the incident occurred in front of his son.
Later, he was arrested for Criminal Damage and taken to the Gwinnett County Jail. On February 3, Benzino was charged formally with one count of second-degree criminal property damage, a felony.
