In central Florida, a ‘old western’ standoff between a woman armed with a knife and a sheriff’s deputy in the aisles of Walmart came to a dramatic conclusion.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the woman confronted customers on March 30 at a Walmart on South Highway 441.
The sheriff’s office decided to share video of a deputy again and again telling the woman to put down the knife. While others in the store continue their shopping, the deputy holds her at gunpoint.
After a brief moment, the deputy holsters his gun and extracts a Taser. He commands the woman to put the knife down. He zaps her when she refuses. She collides with a store shelf just as the deputy places her in handcuffs.
Brandy McGowan, 32, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Deputies later learned she had taken meth prior to the incident.
