Tuesday, police discovered the remains of Ezekiel Harry, according to a press statement.

According to jail records, Maya Jones, 28, and Jermaine Robinson, 36, have both been charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. The two were denied bond, according to the jail documents.

Houma Today says that security cameras reportedly showed Jones and Robinson taking a black duffel bag out of their residence on the day Ezekiel was reported missing, according Houma Police Chief Dana Coleman.

A few hours later, the duo was captured on camera going home without the bag.

The cause of the child’s death is still under investigation, although Coleman stated that indications of physical abuse were present.

“Whatever happened to little Ezekiel Harry happened in the safe haven of his home,” Coleman said.

Jones reported Ezekiel’s abduction earlier that day. She stated that he was taken by a guy in a grey vehicle when she and her four children were out walking.

According to the announcement, after an investigation revealed that the information supplied by Jones was false, investigators suspected foul play.

“This is absolutely a death penalty case,” Terrebonne District Attorney Joe Waitz said, according to WAFB-TV. “What happened to this little 2-year-old shocks the conscience.”
