A Riverside High School teacher has been placed on leave after being videotaped “war hooping & tomahawk chopping” by a student.

In the clip, the teacher can be seen donning a form of headpiece and making a lot of noise while dancing backwards and forwards around the class, CBS8 reported.

A student at John W. North High School started filming because he “felt that violence was being committed against him and he had the right to record.” according to a post on Instagram.

“This student looks indigenous, has a Native first name, and identifies as Native American,” the message continues.

The teacher in the video has not been identified by John W. North High School.
