According to Douglasville police, a woman has been arrested on suspicion of shooting a teenager during a road rage incident on Sunday afternoon.
On Monday morning, a judge denied Brittney Alyssa Griffith, 30, bond. Griffith was driving a black sedan eastbound on Interstate 20 around 4:40 p.m., investigators said. She was reportedly traveling from the Villa Rica or Carrollton areas, according to FOX5.
Griffith had been tailing the victim’s car on I-20 since they left Villa Rica, where they were involved in a road rage altercation.
Griffith reportedly pulled out a gun and shot a 17-year-old in the face as the vehicle approached the Chapel Hill Road exit.
Officials said the victim was taken to a neighboring hospital for medical care and is expected to be released.
Griffith had three children, ages 4 to 9, in the car with her when she fired the shot, detectives discovered.
Officials announced Monday morning that they had arrested Griffith as part of their investigation into the incident.
Griffith faces three charges of third-degree child cruelty, four counts of aggravated assault, and one count of firearm possession during the commission of a crime.
