Authorities in Philadelphia have released the video allegedly showing the point in time a suspect carjacked a driver at gunpoint earlier this week.

The incident happened around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday near Torresdale and Cottman avenues.

According to police, the driver, who worked for a private taxi company, scooped up the suspect at Jackson and Bleigh Street.

The suspect got into the car and paid the fare.

The suspect produced a black handgun with an extended magazine as the car approached Torresdale and Cottman, according to video from inside the taxi. While the car is still moving, the suspect appears to pistol-whip the driver.

The driver appears to reach for the suspect’s gun as the suspect demands money and the car, according to authorities. The driver agreed and got out of the car.

The suspect then took the wheel and drove to Cottage and Aldine streets, where he ditched the vehicle.

Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is encouraged to contact the police.
