The incident occurred shortly after 12 p.m. on Friday at the Broadway Barbershop, 4815 Broadway, according to a KPD spokeswoman. The victim, known by his family as Jimmy Brown, was in the barbershop when he witnessed the guy get into his vehicle and try to take it, according to the report.

Samson Prater, 26, was identified as the suspect by KPD.

According to the complaint, Brown dragged the guy from the vehicle and laid ‘some hands’ on him until authorities arrived. Bystanders recorded the event on video as well.

Prater was taken to UT Medical Center after being treated for his injuries by medical staff.

Jimmy Brown stated the following about the ordeal: “He got what he had coming to him and hopefully he won’t steal another one.”
