At Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, a man from New Jersey was discovered with nearly $1 million in cocaine hidden in his electric wheelchair.

Agents with US Customs and Border Protection said they stopped Gabriel Ruiz, 34, of New Jersey, on June 20 after he arrived from the Dominican Republic with 13 bricks of cocaine hidden within a chair.

The case will be handled by the State’s Attorney for Anne Arundel County.

Last month, customs officers at Charlotte Douglas International Airport discovered 23 pounds of cocaine in a wheelchair. This suspect, too, was from the Dominican Republic.
