A 33-year-old man is charged with murdering his father and mother at a Chicago senior living facility.

Ocie Banks Jr. has already been charged with two felony counts of first-degree murder, according to authorities. He was arrested on Tuesday after officials identified him as the shooter who killed Sheila Banks, 61, and Ocie Banks Sr., 79.

Officers performed a well-being check at the Wilson Yard senior home in the 1000 block of West Montrose Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Sunday and discovered the couple dead.

Banks Jr. allegedly assaulted his father, according to his stepbrother Montrell Shief, and the couple divorced 10 years ago. According to court documents, the father then decided to move in with Banks Jr. while remaining friendly with his wife.

According to court documents, the son and father were playing cards in Sheila’s apartment on Friday night.

According to Chicago police, video surveillance shows Banks Jr. exiting the unit at 6 a.m. on Saturday. No one else entered the apartment till the cops came late Sunday night and encountered the couple dead. Both deaths were determined to be homicides.

On Thursday, he was denied bail, and his next court date is set for May 3. Ocie Jr. is also facing a federal armed robbery charge. In January, he was charged and released on bond.
