After police say he shot someone for refusing to go to the store for him, a man was arrested and charged with murder at the Florence County Detention Center on Sunday morning.
Randolph Eugene Smith, according to investigators, approached his neighbors on Brunwood Drive on Saturday and asked them to go to the store for him.
“Mr. Smith allegedly shot the victim, who was still seated in his vehicle, after being refused the favor,” a news release from the Florence Police Department states.
According to the press release, officers arrived on the scene at 4:41 p.m. Saturday and discovered the suspect had fled the scene with the victim in the victim’s vehicle.
According to Florence Coroner Keith von Lutcken, the victim was Larry Dontaye Joyner, 37.
The Medical University of South Carolina will conduct an autopsy this week, according to Lutcken.
Officers discovered the car near Jefferies Creek Park and apprehended Smith “without incident,” according to the press release.
Smith is charged with murder, grand larceny, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
