A Southern California Sheriff’s officer is being investigated after a video surfaced of him kicking a suspect in the head after the man he was chasing seemed to have surrendered.

The altercation took place on Wednesday and was filmed on security cameras at a Toyota dealership in Victorville, California, northeast of Los Angeles, according to the Daily Mail.

According to officials, a deputy attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle for several traffic offences near 7th and Lincoln Streets in Victorville.

The driver, later identified as 32-year-old Willie Jones of Victorville, did not yield, and a chase started, according to VVNG.

When approached with a flashlight by a deputy, Jones complies, puts his arms up in the air, and gets on the pavement, at which point the deputy kicks the man twice in the head, reported KCAL9.

Undersheriff Dicus of San Bernardino County issued a video statement admitting to the use of force.
