Dasan Jones, the stepson of a Baltimore City police officer, was found dead inside a wall, according to new court filings.
According to reports, after authorities were summoned to the house for a custody battle involving the teen’s mother, his stepfather, 34-year-old Eric Banks Jr., agreed to an inspection of the house.
Officers stated they observed a hole in a wall with a white cover lying against it when they arrived to the apartment on the top floor.
Banks reportedly told authorities it was a weapons safe, but when they went to check, they discovered the teen’s corpse and promptly handcuffed Banks.
Prior calls for assistance to the home were confirmed by Anne Arundel County Police, although they were not detailed.
They describe the teen’s death as “strange,” but refuse to specify how he died or whether foul play was involved.
The nature of the teen’s death will be determined by an autopsy.
Banks, a three-year veteran of the Baltimore Police Department, has been suspended without pay.
