A terrifying video shows a crocodile hauling a man’s body through a Mexican lagoon.
Bystanders filming the situation on the otherwise calm waters of Laguna del Carpintero in Tampico, Tamaulipas, are horrified, according to footage published by journalist Porfirio Ibarra on Thursday.
“Oh f-k,” one observer exclaims again and again in Spanish as the giant crocodile swims by with the man already lacking his left lower arm and foot.
The croc’s jaws are clamped on the unidentified man’s right shoulder and side of the head as he is gradually carried face-down.
The crocodile appears to be approximately 3 times the diameter of its prey, implying that it could be as long as 18 feet.
“Presumably the man entered the lagoon to swim and was attacked by the animal,” stated Ibarra, a local magazine author and Associated Press stringer.
According to Jorge Becerril, another journalist who posted the video, stated officials eventually pulled what was left of the man’s body from the water and “protected” the croc.
“In that lagoon, it is expressly forbidden to go swimming,” he wrote.
