Three people were discovered dead late Monday at a home near Winter Park, Florida in what appears to be a double murder-suicide, according to deputies.

A shooting was reported shortly before 10 p.m. in the 1000 block of Princess Gate Boulevard in the unincorporated Winter Park community of Howell Estates.

Three people were discovered dead, according to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. According to officials, two of them did appear to be homicide victims, while the third died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Sheriff’s officials said “an investigation indicates that the subject is a family friend of the victims (who was) staying in the home.”

According to the sheriff’s office, a 17-year-old who had been in the residence at the moment of the shooting managed to crawl out a window to safety. Deputies believe the alleged shooter had already shot himself when the teen crawled through the window uninjured.

There have been no further details released, including information about the victims. Linda Lubitz, who lives nearby, learned of the news Tuesday morning when she awoke.

“I said no good deed goes unpunished, and the reason I said that is because they had taken somebody in out of the goodness of their heart,” Lubitz said.
