Man Arrested In Connection To Hit-And-Run Death Of Rapper Nicki Minaj’s Father (February 2021)

A hit-and-run driver pleaded guilty on Friday in a Long Island crash that resulted in the death of Nicki Minaj’s father and was sentenced to a year or less in a jail cell, to the dismay of prosecutors and Nicki Minaj’s mom, according to NY Daily News.

In state court in Nassau County, entrepreneur Charles Polevich did admit fleeing the scene of the fatal accident that occurred in Mineola in February 2021 and left pedestrian Robert Maraj dead.

Authorities say Polevich actually got out of his vehicle and glanced at the hurt man on the pavement before speeding away, not calling 911, and covering his vehicle with a tarp. By disguising the car, Polevich pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence.

Maraj, 64, died the following day in a hospital.

The judge, Howard Sturim, stated that Polevich would receive no more than one year in jail, as well as community service and a license suspension. The 71-year-old is scheduled for sentencing on August 3.
