According to police, five people were shot and two were killed in a shooting in Northwest DC.

Police are on the scene at 27 O Street NW. The shooting happened around 12:52 p.m. The location is confirmed as a senior living facility, but authorities have not stated whether any of the victims were residents.

Stephanie Ramirez of FOX 5 was indeed on the scene. During a press conference, DC Police confirmed that 5 people had been shot, 2 did die, and 3 were being treated at nearby hospitals.

According to initial findings, eyewitness accounts saw a black SUV driving southbound on N Capitol Street make a right turn onto O Street NW and come to a stop. Eyewitness say at least 2 shooters then exited the vehicle and began shooting.

The shooters then re-entered the SUV and drove west on O Street NW.

All of the victims appear to be Black males. They also claim that this shooting is unrelated to another fatal shooting that occurred overnight on Florida Avenue NW.

The scene of Wednesday’s shooting appears to be an open-air drug market. MPD routinely patrols the location and arrests people for drug offenses.

Anyone with information or video from the incident is asked to call MPD at (202) 727-9099 or text 50411.
