According to Yahoo Life, the 57-year-old had too much to drink while filming The Wendy Williams Show from her home during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic and “began stripping down and touching herself inappropriately” in front of deeply worried spectators.
According to the article, the mother of one previously spent time in a sober house in 2019, but when her team started to notice her unusual behavior the following year, they summoned her manager. They discovered an inebriated Williams upon their arrival, who, after putting on quite a show for spectators, left the people with no choice but to call 911.
Following the call, the New Jersey-born broadcaster allegedly became even more irate and was eventually “hospitalized for weeks” while her show was suspended.
A statement was released at the time of her hospitalization claiming that it was due to complications with her Graves’ disease.
“Recently, Wendy has been dealing with symptoms from her Graves’ disease which is causing fatigue. In consultation with her doctor and as a precautionary measure, she will be taking some time off as she continues to receive treatment,” it explained.
Williams has been the subject of numerous reports in the last six months alleging that her health is failing, her mental health is deteriorating, and she is unwilling to return to her purple chair.
Thomas Williams Jr., her brother, has denied reports that she was displaying signs of dementia and was wheelchair-bound.
Kevin Hunter Jr., her son, recently posted a clip of his mother looking fit and healthy while savoring a salad and smoothie. Williams even told a paparazzi as she exited a Miami wellness center that she felt fabulous.
