Elderly Woman Killed After 2 Alligators Attacked Her at Golf Course Pond

According to officials, an elderly woman was attacked by 2 alligators Friday night at a golf course in Sarasota.

According to a news release from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was spotted falling into a small pond near the Boca Royale Golf and Country Club in Englewood. Before the alligators snatched her, the lady allegedly “struggled to remain afloat.”

The woman’s body was discovered around 30 minutes later.

Two alligators were found nearby when officials arrived. It is presently uncertain whether the alligators were engaged in the tragedy, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The two alligators were taken after an alligator trapper was brought to the location. One gator was said to be 8′ 10″ long, while the other was 7′ 7″ long. As of this report, the FWC stated that it has no plans to remove any further alligators from the area.

The FWC and the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the event together until the cause of death is confirmed.
