Nipsey Hussle: Eric Holder Reportedly Beaten Up While in Custody

According to his lawyer, the man charged with murdering renowned rapper Nipsey Hussle was physically attacked in custody and therefore unable to participate in his trial on Tuesday due to some medical treatment for his injuries.

Eric Holder Jr., 32, was severely beaten after leaving a Los Angeles courthouse around 4 p.m. on Monday.

“[He] was attacked by two inmates and beaten. He was cut with a razor in the back of his head and received three staples. His face is swollen and his eye is swollen,” Holder’s public defender, Aaron Jansen, tells Rolling Stone.

Despite his injuries, Holder is expected back in court Wednesday morning for the final day of evidence in his trial, according to his lawyer. Closing arguments, with cameras permitted in the courthouse, are set to begin Thursday, according to Jansen.

Although the location of the in-custody assault is currently unknown, given the public nature of Holder’s case, other prisoners are meant to be kept away from him when he travels to and from court. Holder is a member of the Rollin’ 60s gang.
