Four people have been injured after a “explosion” at a Dunwoody apartment building on Sunday afternoon, which DeKalb County Fire Rescue believes was prompted by a gas line problem. According to officials, 40 to 50 units were impacted.
DeKalb County Fire Rescue Captain Jaeson Daniels said four people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Two more people were not immediately found, but have since been found, and as of 6 p.m., officials said all residents had been found.
Technicians are continuing to work to evaluate the building’s durability and shore it up so that rescue workers can search inside. According to fire forensic experts, the massive explosion destroyed or damaged three apartments and caused the building to partially collapse. Drones are being used by officials to survey the damage.
The actual cause of the explosion is still being investigated.
