Nia Whims, a 13-year-old Florida girl, is speaking out after being falsely accused of threatening violence against her school in November 2021. Her family has now filed a lawsuit against several parties they believe are to blame.

Whims was detained for 14 days after a fellow student impersonating her on Instagram threatened the school, according to her family.

As a result, her family announced on Wednesday that they have filed a lawsuit against the school, Instagram, and its parent company, Meta.

The family also filed a notice of intent to sue the Pembroke Pines Police Department over the incident.
