There are distressing new revelations in the February death of a 7-year-old boy who was starved to death. Two people have been charged by the police.
7-year-old Peter Cuacuas died from being starved to death and neglect, according to investigators who announced second-degree murder charges against Letitia Bravo, 39, who is thought to be the boy’s mother. She is now locked up.
According to Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler, when she decided to bring Peter from the Newburgh residence they lived in, to the hospital on Feb. 10, he was motionless and frighteningly small.
“He weighed 37 pounds, and he was 7 years old. I don’t think there needs to be much more said than that,” Hoovler said.
He alleged that the conclusions of the medical examiner led them not just to Bravo, who had primary physical custody of the child, but also to his dad, Arturo Cuacuas, who resided somewhere else and had the boy with him every weekend.
The father has been charged with homicide by criminal negligence. According to investigators, he should have gotten involved.
