Federal charges have been filed against a family suspected of offering a poisonous industrial bleach as a coronavirus cure through their Florida-based church.
According to court records, Mark Grenon, 62, and his sons Jonathan, 34, Jordan, 26, and Joseph, 32, were charged with one count each of conspiracy to commit fraud and two counts each of criminal contempt on Thursday by a federal grand jury in Miami. If convicted, they will face life in prison.
Mark Grenon is the archbishop of Bradenton, Florida’s Genesis II Church of Health and Healing. Officials said the church sells chlorine dioxide as a “Miracle Mineral Solution.”
The Grenons say that the formula will treat a wide range of illnesses, including cancer, autism, malaria, and COVID-19.
The church was ordered to stop selling the product by a federal judge in Miami last April, but they refused to obey the order.
