Authorities say an 86-year-old Florida man who had been a lengthy worker at a sugar cane factory is suspected of murdering his supervisor after he was terminated. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office’s online booking data, Felix Cabrera, 86, was apprehended on Friday and charged with premeditated first-degree murder.
According to Teri Barbera, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, Cabrera has worked for the Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida for 31 years, according to WPTV. Cabrera was told to punch out and not come back to work on Friday morning, according to the tv station.
Cabrera, according to Barbera, asked his boss if he could keep his position for another year. When the 67-year-old man refused, Cabrera took a revolver from his pocket and shot him numerous times, according to WPEC.
When deputies arrived at the facility, they discovered the victim deceased at the building’s entrance, according to the news station. Deputies discovered Cabrera, who was clutching a pistol, after checking the building, according to WPBF.
