Two teen students were arrested Thursday afternoon at Harns Marsh Middle School in Lehigh Acres for conspiring to commit a mass shooting.
Following a mental evaluation, the teens were released and transported to juvenile detention on Saturday evening.
According to the arrest report, the two boys intended to murder others before committing suicide. They allegedly tried to enlist other kids to participate them as well.
Philip Byrd, 13, and Connor Pruett, 14, appeared in court for the first time on Sunday morning.
They were sentenced to 21 days in juvenile detention and will be unable to interact with the school or with one another.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said in a press conference that both boys are facing charges after a student told a teacher that one of the teens had a weapon in his school bag.
