A 24-year-old ATM delivery driver and former Cleveland police officer was arrested by police for her alleged role in the theft of $200,000. Officials believe this theft is also related to an ongoing investigation into a double murder.
Police received reports of the theft on Feb. 3, according to Lorain County CSI. Tyra Parker, 24, said that when the theft occurred, she was transporting cash to local ATMs throughout the Lorain area.
She informed the police that she had made two cash deliveries and she realized the money for the delivery was missing when she showed up at the third ATM on her route.
She claims she drove back to the previous ATM location to assess the security cameras at the store, according to the Lorain County CSI Facebook post, but her delivery vehicle was not captured in the area. The authorities said that this was “clearly against company policy.”
Police said Parker’s account of the incident changed during the interrogation. She became extremely anxious and stopped cooperating with them, authorities said.
The case involving the missing ATM money is also linked to a double homicide in the 1300 block of F Street last Saturday, Lorain County CSI says. A 28-year-old and a 29-year-old were gunned down.
Parker entered a plea of not guilty Friday afternoon. A bond of $150,000 was set.
