A former Bradenton teacher agreed to a plea deal after admitting sexually abusing a former student.
Kassandra Moore, a former Broach School teacher, was sentenced to years of imprisonment. Circuit Judge Frederick P. Mercurio also imposed two years of house arrest, accompanied by eight years of sexual predator probation as well as psychological evaluation. Moore had seen other licensed therapists but had not decided to continue treatment, according to the judge.
Moore pleaded guilty to 4 counts of sexual battery on a juvenile in connection with her contact with a 15-year-old boy.
The student notified another person, who told a teacher. Moore had also sent the teen pics of herself in lingerie, according to detectives.
Moore had asked another coworker at the school to offer an alibi, according to further investigation. That individual refused. Police had been able to use DNA from an interaction to verify that Moore had assaulted the victim.
Moore had requested that she not be imprisoned due to a series of mental disorders. The judge also stated that the longest period of time he could order Moore to be held on probation was eight years.
