A judge in Coweta County, Georgia has found a man guilty in the “worst case of child molestation” he has ever seen.

Derrol Allen Grant was given 5 consecutive life sentences followed by 60 years in prison for four counts of aggravated child molestation, one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes, one count of aggravated sexual battery, and three counts of child molestation.

In 2018, Newnan Police started to investigate Grant after a child told a friend, who then informed a guidance counselor, that Grant had abused the victim for 6 years.

The investigation revealed that additional children had observed sexual abuse. After the delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the case went to trial with 2 additional victims detected. Each individual testified against Grant.

John Cranford Jr., district attorney of Coweta County, commended the victims and witnesses for their fortitude in bringing the abusive behavior to light.

“These victims persevered through years of abuse and for another four years waiting on a trial, and they have finally received the affirmation and justice they deserve,” Cranford said.
