A suspect has been arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a 39-year-old woman inside a LA Fitness shower in Marietta.
Cobb County Police stated that they were called to the 1453 Terrell Mill Rd. gym on Thursday, Aug. 25.
According to authorities, the 31-year-old accused person managed to enter the fitness facility on a visitor’s pass and entered the hot tub where the complainant and her husband were resting. The victim stated that the guy was not making any sense to them, but asked the victim’s husband if the woman with him was a friend, to which he replied, “No, she’s my wife.”
According to the incident report, the victim undressed and entered a shower stall after exiting the hot tub and walking into the women’s locker room.
The man allegedly pulled back the curtain and gripped the victim’s breast before pushing her into the wall while she was in the shower. According to officers, the woman was able to shove the accused hard enough that he stumbled and fell, allowing her to exit the shower and call for assistance.
Officers arrived on the scene and encountered the suspect, a 31-year-old man who denied going into the women’s locker room and declared he had “nothing to do with that girl screaming.”
Police eventually arrested the man after the victim provided a description of the individual that matched the person of interest being questioned. According to the report, 4 witnesses were able to assist authorities on the scene.
The suspect, 31, is now charged with sexual battery and disorderly conduct.
